General Information for Students Dear Students This is to bring to your kind notice that, as per the Supreme Court, Govt. of India, UGC, AICTE, Govt. of Karnataka and VTU rulings, “RAGGING” is a Criminal Offence leading to Non-Bailable Imprisonment. In view of the above, all the students are hereby advised not to indulge in ragging or support ragging directly or indirectly in any manner. If a complaint is received against any student in this regard, severe action will be initiated as per the rules. Attention of all the students is drawn to the following regulations of Karnataka Education Act. 1983. (Karnataka Act No. 1 of 1995) Section : 2 (29) : “Ragging” means causing, inducing, compelling or forcing a student, whether by way of a practical jokes or otherwise, to do any act which detracts from human dignity or violate his person or exposes him/her to ridicule or to forbear from any lawful act, by intimidating wrongfully restarting, wrongfully confining, or injuring him/her or by using criminal force to him/her or by holding out to him/her any threat of such intimidation, wrongful restraint, wrongful confinement, injury or the use of criminal force. |
